As the grandmother of PNO Coffee Co.'s founder, Alicia Landa had a profound impact on why this company was started. She represented the true meaning of the American Dream, considering her humble beginnings.
Alicia was born in Cuba in 1948. At the age of 13, she and her brother were two of the over 14,000 unaccompanied Cuban children that came to the United States from 1960 to 1962 during Operation Pedro Pan. While she had to leave her family and home behind, get separated from her brother when she got to the U.S., and jump from foster home to foster home, that never dulled her strong spirit. Her and her brother were finally reunited when a loving Italian family in Boonton, NJ took them both in as one of their own and she finally found family again. It was there in that tiny town that she began her new life.
After starting a family in the Northeast, Alicia, her husband, and two sons moved to Miami, FL. Alicia's legacy would begin in 1989 when out of her garage she became an entrepreneur and founded the original P.N.O., an international food packaging company. With much dedication and perseverance she grew the company vastly while making meaningful connections and giving back to her community however she could. She was a detail orientated professional with hands-on management who became an expert in Public Relations and Communications. Her achievements with the company led to many successes and in 2014, on P.N.O.'s 25th anniversary,
In honor of Alicia's achievements and the close relationship that Natasha Landa had to her grandmother, PNO Coffee Co. was founded on May 8th, 2023, 9 years from the day being proclaimed "Alicia Landa Day." PNO Coffee Co. strives to recognize the values and sense of love and community that Alicia represented to not only her own family, but to her community.
